The Manager of Accommodation Services provides operational and staff leadership for Accommodation Services within the Office of Accessibility & Accommodations. The position is responsible for ensuring the effective coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of accommodation-related services that support disabled students and students requiring academic accommodations across the institution.

Working within institutional policies, relevant legislation, and the university’s commitments to accessibility, equity, inclusion, and student success, the Manager oversees a diverse service portfolio that includes communication access, assistive technology, alternate format materials, educational assistant supports, accessibility-related equipment and lending programs, and related student-facing services. The position ensures that services are delivered in a timely, consistent, student-centred, and legally compliant manner, while balancing operational demands, staff capacity, budgetary requirements, and evolving student needs.

The Manager contributes to the university by strengthening the quality, reliability, and responsiveness of accommodation services; supporting staff development and effective team functioning; improving workflows and service standards; and advancing awareness of accessibility and accommodation processes across campus and community contexts.

Empower & Lead a Dedicated Team: Recruit, mentor, and inspire a diverse group of accessibility professionals, fostering a supportive work culture and continuous staff development.

Drive Campus-Wide Accessibility Culture: Serve as an ambassador for accessibility across the institution—building strong relationships with faculty, staff, and external partners to streamline accommodation workflows and promote inclusive practices.

Direct High-Quality Student Supports: Oversee daily operations for critical services—including assistive technology, alternate format materials, communication access, and educational assistant support—ensuring timely, compassionate, and student-centred delivery.

Manage Resources & Operations: Oversee budget administration, purchasing, grant reporting, and the lifecycle management of specialized adaptive equipment and accessibility assets.

Innovate & Elevate Standards: Continuously evaluate service delivery, mitigate operational risks, and modernize processes to align with changing student demographics and emerging accessibility technologies.

A post-secondary degree in a relevant field is required. A graduate degree or equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in accessibility services, student affairs, disability services, education, public administration, or a related area would be an asset.

The position requires a strong combination of supervisory, administrative, operational, and student-service expertise. The Manager must be able to lead staff, manage complex service workflows, support students and staff with tact and discretion, and ensure that accommodation services are delivered in a manner consistent with institutional policy, accessibility principles, and applicable legal requirements.

Knowledge of academic accommodations, accessibility services, disability-related supports, and student-service operations in a post-secondary environment.

Understanding of relevant legislation, policy frameworks, privacy requirements, confidentiality obligations, and institutional responsibilities related to accessibility and accommodation.

Strong supervisory and people-management skills, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management, conflict resolution, and team development.

Ability to manage a diverse service portfolio, including communication access, assistive technology, alternate format materials, educational assistant supports, tutoring supports, and accessibility-related equipment.

Strong operational planning and organizational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, peak service periods, urgent student needs, and multiple service workflows.

Financial and administrative skills, including purchasing, reconciliation, purchase-order oversight, grant-application support, documentation, and resource tracking.

Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures consistently while exercising sound judgment in complex or sensitive situations.

Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain processes clearly, prepare accessible written materials, support campus communications, and communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, vendors, and external partners.

Demonstrated commitment to student-centred service, accessibility, equity, inclusion, and the removal of barriers to education.

Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify service gaps, improve workflows, manage risk, and support continuous improvement.

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and respect for privacy and confidentiality.

Familiarity with assistive technologies, alternate format processes, accessible communications, and adaptive equipment used in post-secondary accommodation contexts.

Experience supervising staff and managing complex student-facing services in a post-secondary setting is strongly preferred.

Experience or familiarity with the Accommodate software system is considered an asset.
